What have we been up to?

What a Carry On!!

Amanda Barrie and Sherrie Hewson joined us for a rather impromptu art lesson in the beautiful surroundings of Allan Bank, a National Trust property in Grasmere.

This Morning’s producer Martin Harper had contacted us earlier this month to find out if we could provide “an interesting thing to do in an interesting place” as part of their series “What a Carry on!”. We found a delightful location from which to paint that overlooked Grasmere and we were all very well looked after by National Trust staff and volunteers

The ladies had enjoyed the traditional Lake District damp weather the day before and the whole film crew and artistes (of both screen and paper!) were amazed that the sun not only appeared but blazed down. The butler topped up his tan, visitors enjoyed the additional views and the only water being splashed about that afternoon was that in Sherrie’s water pot!

Steve offered a light hearted and good humoured approach to the lesson; the warmth of the whole afternoon generated much laughter and banter both on and off set. The filming had to be completed within a tight schedule but the film crew effortlessly maintained such a low profile that the art session was able to flow very naturally.
